I have food allergies to Peanut, Soy, Tomato, and Banana and the staff was fantastic at working with me so I could have a safe meal. I was even able to have desert! Our drinks were very good, and the atmosphere was laid back and friendly. It's rare to find a restaurant that will take the effort to work with food allergies so carefully, and not leave you feeling like it is a chore or that you are annoying. Highly, Highly recommend!!

It has the same owners as The Shed in the Plaza, but at La Choza, you cannot make a reservation, and the wait for dinner is EPICLY LONG. If you get on the list and have to stand and wait, you can order drinks at the bar and still have a good time. Lunchtime is generally less busy. I regularly order and love the following: Large Kale Salad GF (V): Green kale, Parmesan, roasted pecans, dried cranberries, vinaigrette with blue corn tortillas instead of the garlic bread (though the garlic bread is delicious). The dressing is to die for! Chalupa: One large, crisp, flour tortilla bowl filled with "refried" beans, lettuce, cheese, salsa, guacamole & sour cream WITH BEEF (you can get it without meat and with other meat). Served with house-made corn tortilla chips. Enchilada plate WITH CHICKEN: Blue corn tortillas stacked between two layers of cheese, a sprinkle of onions & covered with red or green chile. Served with pinto beans, posole & a garnish of lettuce & tomato. The trio with salsa, guacamole, and queso. I prefer the queso without meat, though they have a meat option. Why the long wait? Well, the hype explains why La Choza is so hard to get a table, including at the bar, even for regulars! Here are my top 10 reasons why: 1) Authenticity: La Choza offers authentic New Mexican cuisine that stays true to traditional flavors. The chile is good, fresh, and hot! 2) Flavorful Dishes: Their use of real ingredients, like fresh fruit and vegetables in innovative ways, ensures each dish bursts with flavor. 3) Creative Pairings: Unique ingredient combinations make for unforgettable meals. 4) Quality Ingredients: They prioritize high-quality, locally-sourced produce. 5) Health Conscious: Many dishes cater to health-conscious diners without sacrificing taste. The kale salad and dressing - CHEF's KISS - yum yum yum! 6) Consistent Quality: Regulars appreciate the consistency in food quality and service. 7) Ambiance: The vibrant, welcoming atmosphere enhances the dining experience. 8) Community Feel: A favorite among us locals, fostering a sense of community. 9) Friendly Staff: The staff is known for their hospitality and attentiveness. 10) Variety: The menu offers a wide range of options, ensuring there's something for everyone. These reasons make La Choza a beloved dining spot in Santa Fe, worth the effort to secure a table. The margaritas are strong and tasty, too, with a good selection of different types of tequilas! If mezcals are your thing, they specialize in it too. You really cannot go wrong.

Wonderful restaurant/experience. La Choza is a Santa Fe institution and doesn't need another five star review but I do want to call out the vegan pazole. It is out of this world. Tortillas are a fine pastry; guacamole is mind blowing.

Best enchiladas I've ever had, don't sleep on this place for some delicious New Mexican food. Tastefully decorated southwestern space that has a warm and colorful interior, personable and friendly service, and bomb food that has some real spice/heat. Your dollar goes pretty far here, as you get a lot of food with one entree that includes sides of sopapillas, hominy/pozole, salad, and beans. Being from Boston, I couldn't pass on the clam chowder, which was very tasty and came with a big hunk of garlic bread. Drinks were good, but stiff, and there is a wide selection of tequila and mezcal available. This was one of our favorite and most memorable meals while we visited Santa Fe and I wish we had a La Choza in Boston!
